Thought of the Week

One Idea Worth Sitting With

Every week Marcell takes one idea and turns it over slowly — where it came from, what it costs, and what it asks of you.

This Week · Media & Communication

You're Thinking About What You Heard. I'm Thinking About Who Wanted You To Hear It.

Attention is the most valuable thing you own, and almost nothing in the world is designed to hand it back to you. The question isn't whether you are informed. The question is who decided what you would be informed about.

A week of headlines can leave you certain and still uninformed. A single honest question can leave you unsure and much closer to the truth. One of those states is uncomfortable. Only one of them is honest.

So this week, before you repeat the thing you heard, sit with it. Ask who benefits from you believing it. Ask what it wants you to feel. Then decide what you actually think.

Thanks for Thinking.
